New Epstein Files Highlight Contacts With Trump, Musk, Branson — But Do Not Implicate Them in Crimes
The United States Department of Justice has released a massive tranche of documents connected to the investigation into disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, whose 2019 death in federal custody ended his prosecution on sex-trafficking charges. The newly published files, numbering in the millions of pages after years of legal fights over transparency, include previously unseen communications and references involving a range of prominent figures — including **President Donald Trump, tech entrepreneur Elon Musk, and billionaire Richard Branson**. **President Trump’s Mention in the Files**
Trump’s name appears in some of the newly released records, including an FBI-compiled list of allegations and tip reports connected to the broader Epstein investigation. According to an official Justice Department statement accompanying the release, those specific entries largely stem from anonymous tips and unverified reports collected by the FBI and have **not been corroborated**; the department described some of the most sensational claims as “untrue and false.” No charges or evidence of criminal conduct against Trump have emerged from the files. **Elon Musk’s Email Exchanges With Epstein**
The documents also reveal a series of email communications between Elon Musk and Epstein from the early 2010s. In some of these exchanges, Musk appears to inquire about potentially visiting Epstein’s private Caribbean island — the now-notorious **Little Saint James** — and about parties there, although it remains **unclear whether any such visits occurred**. Musk has publicly acknowledged the correspondence but insists he *never went to the island* and *had minimal interaction* with Epstein. He has also said that some released emails could be misinterpreted to smear his reputation.
**Richard Branson’s Correspondence With Epstein**
British billionaire Richard Branson is also among those whose name appears in the files. Email exchanges between Branson and Epstein from around 2013 show friendly communications, including an invitation for Epstein to visit Branson’s private Caribbean estate and discussions about philanthropy. A Branson spokesperson has characterised the interactions as limited and said Branson ended contact once he became fully aware of the serious allegations against Epstein.
**What the Files Do — and Do Not — Show**
Importantly, the presence of a name or correspondence in the files **does not equate to evidence of wrongdoing**. Lawyers for victims, lawmakers, and independent analysts have stressed that the documents mix raw investigative material, unverified tips, personal emails, and mundane communications that must be interpreted carefully. Many high-profile figures appear in the records simply because Epstein was a prolific networker and socialized with wealthy, influential people long before his crimes became widely know
As analysis of the files continues, journalists, researchers, and legal experts are combing through the released material to better understand the full scope of Epstein’s connections — and to separate speculation from substantiated fact.
