Eagles’ Saquon Barkley reacts to Super Bowl crowd booing Taylor Swift: ‘I don’t get why she was getting hate’

During Super Bowl LIX on February 9, 2025, Taylor Swift attended the game to support her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, who plays for the Kansas City Chiefs. When Swift appeared on the Jumbotron, she was met with boos from the Philadelphia Eagles fans in the stadium. This reaction reportedly left Kelce feeling “helpless” and “heartbroken,” as he witnessed his girlfriend being treated in such a manner.

Saquon Barkley, the Philadelphia Eagles’ running back, expressed his confusion and disapproval of the crowd’s reaction. He stated, “I don’t get it. I don’t get why she was getting hate there. She was there supporting her significant other.” Barkley emphasized that Swift’s presence at the game was a positive influence, helping to broaden the NFL’s audience and promote its international expansion. He remarked, “She made the game bigger. In football, we’re all about, ‘How can we expand the game and make it more international?’… her being a part of it’s only helping that.

Barkley also noted the irony of the situation, attributing the boos to Philadelphia Eagles fans who associated Swift with the opposing team. He added, “She’s associated with the Chiefs, so it’s probably a bunch of Philly fans, but it’s a game, lighten up a little bit.”

Despite the negative reception, Swift maintained her composure and continued to support Kelce throughout the game. Her presence at the Super Bowl highlighted the personal challenges public figures face when their personal lives intersect with their professional endeavors
