Kate Middleton & Prince William Move Into New Home, Forest Lodge, With Their Three Children

A Fresh Chapter

The Prince William and Kate Middleton have officially moved their family — including Prince George (12), Princess Charlotte (10) and Prince Louis (7) — into Forest Lodge, a stately Georgian home in Windsor Great Park, near Windsor. The relocation comes after several strenuous years for the family, and reflects their desire for a “fresh start”.

The Home: Forest Lodge

The property is an eight-bedroom Grade II-listed Georgian residence, surrounded by 4,800 acres of parkland. It is estimated to be worth around £16 million, and the couple will privately fund both the move and the renovations.
Notable features: marble fireplaces, Venetian windows, a half-barrel vaulted hallway ceiling, and expansive grounds offering a strong balance of privacy and proximity to London.

Why Now?

The family moved to their current Windsor home, Adelaide Cottage, in 2022 to see if the area worked for them.

In recent years they have faced significant personal challenges: the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, and health issues affecting both Kate and King Charles III. The move is seen as a way to turn a new page.

Their children already attend nearby Lambrook School, so the new home remains well-positioned for both schooling and family life.

Lifestyle & Approach

Despite the size of the home, William and Kate are committed to a more “normal” family rhythm: they will not have live-in staff, a decision they also carried out at Adelaide Cottage. Their move is privately funded, avoiding extra cost to the taxpayer.

They have emphasized the value of nature and outdoor space — something Forest Lodge offers in abundance and which aligns with Kate’s personal focus on wellness and family time.

Considerations & Local Response

While the move is clearly geared toward creating a stable, long-term home for the family, it has not been without its local implications. For instance, increased security measures and changes in public access around the estate have drawn criticism from some nearby residents.

What’s Next

The house is expected to serve as their base for many years to come—even possibly after William becomes King. The move signals a commitment to Windsor as their home rather than a temporary location. For the moment, the focus appears to be on family stability, normalcy in upbringing for George, Charlotte and Louis, and a home environment that better reflects their evolving roles and priorities.
