### The Controversial Remarks

In a recent interview with *Vanity Fair*, Walker described Barron Trump, who is a freshman at NYU’s Stern School of Business, as “sort of like an oddity on campus,” adding that he “goes to class, he goes home.” She also mentioned that an NYU professor joked that Barron “doesn’t really belong” at the historically liberal campus in New York’s Greenwich Village

These comments quickly garnered attention on social media, leading to significant backlash. The national organization, College Republicans of America, issued a statement condemning Walker’s remarks as “inappropriate” and inconsistent with the values and principles. As a result, Walker submitted her resignation on Sunday

### Walker’s Defense

In response to the criticism, Walker defended her comments, stating that they were taken out of context. She explained that she was highlighting the “ugly side of our culture on campus and worldwide that delights in forming parasocial relationships with celebrities,” referring to the invasive attention Barron has received on campus Walker expressed regret over her resignation, stating, “I actually regret resigning”

### CRA’s Response and Invitation to Barron Trump

Despite acknowledging that the media may have misrepresented Walker’s words, the CRA maintained that her comments were inappropriate. The organization emphasized its commitment to supporting President Trump and extended an invitation to Barron Trump to join the College Republicans of America, stating that he represents “the future of the conservative movement”

This incident underscores the challenges and sensitivities surrounding public figures in academic settings and the scrutiny they face from both the media and their peers.
